Cars.com Fuels Confidence in Kids with Launch of 'Cars Cares' During Super Bowl XLVI
 

CHICAGO, Jan. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Cars.com, the premier online resource for buying and selling new and used vehicles, announced today that it will be giving the massive audience of Super Bowl XLVI the power to make a big difference in the lives of kids and young adults through its "Cars Cares" campaign. During the game, when the Cars.com commercial airs, viewers who use the popular Shazam App to tag the ad will earn $1.00 for one of seven charities in contention for a maximum $100,000 donation from the site.

"As we head back to the big game for the fifth year, we wanted to do more as an organization to contribute to our community and drive our mission of confidence," said Mitch Golub, president of Cars.com. "We are launching Cars Cares as a way to give back, and fuel initiatives that matter to our brand, employees, site users and advertising partners - including dealers and automotive manufacturers."

The maximum $100,000 donation will be given to the charity which receives the most votes on the Cars.com Facebook page between January 26 and February 13. Eligible organizations were selected for the work they do to drive confidence in kids. "Each organization has a unique focus on educating youth and providing programs and services that drive self-esteem, positive decision making and healthy behaviors," said Golub. "It was important to us to identify organizations whose culture and values match our own and to give our community a voice in deciding which organization should be the recipient of our first Cars Cares donation."

NEW YORK – December 15, 2011 – VH1’s beloved, popular franchise, “VH1 Divas,” has announced a special tribute to Amy Winehouse at this year’s “VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul” with performances by Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Florence Welch (Florence + The Machine) and Wanda Jackson. “VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul” premieres Monday, December 19 at 9 PM/8c on VH1.

The tribute will reflect Winehouse’s contribution to modern, London soul music. Some highlights of the tribute will include Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings performing “You Know I’m No Good,” and Florence Welch (Florence + The Machine) and Wanda Jackson will perform her song “Back to Black.” The Dap-Kings contributed a number of tracks for Winehouse’s Grammy Award-winning album “Back to Black.” In addition, Nas, who collaborated with Winehouse on the first single of her current posthumous album, will introduce the tribute medley.

at Neval Thomas Elementary School in Washington, D.C.

WHAT: Abbott, the makers of ZonePerfect Nutrition Bars, will present Neval Thomas Elementary School a new keyboard lab as part of its commitment to help restore music education programs across the nation. The ZonePerfect brand, in conjunction with VH1 Save The Music Foundation, donated $30,000 to Neval Thomas Elementary school. The event will feature a demonstration of the new keyboard lab.

Inspired by her mischievous cat and her professional background, speech pathologist Tracey Delio has developed a series of children books, The Secret Adventures of Louie V. The tales of her Siamese cat’s escapades are designed as a way to foster creativity and assist with overall reading comprehension for young readers. As a strong supporter of the growth and development of children, Delio partners with several charities (donating a portion of book proceeds) including VH1 Save The Music to host events that combine both reading and music in an enjoyable manner for kids and families alike.
These unique “Rock and Read” events showcase imagination and creativity in the form of books and music combined. The event is comprised of an interactive book reading which showcases how authors come up with ideas. It also encourages children to tap into their own imaginations to generate new creative stories. The event continues with the musical stylings of talented musicians who share their creative writing talents in the form of song! This event includes prizes and giveaways for the children. Columbia Heights, MN (October 25, 2011) – On Tuesday, November 1st, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, in conjunction with Comcast, will celebrate the completion of $90,000 worth of new musical instrument grants to Columbia Heights public schools. The event will include a check presentation and performances by student bands from various benefiting schools. Set to kick off at 6:30PM at Columbia Heights High School Performing Arts Center (1440 49th Ave NE), the Foundation Executives will celebrate a combined $90,000 worth of new musical instruments from grants to Valley View Elementary School, Highland Elementary School and North Park Elementary School.  
 
This donation is part of an ongoing effort by the VH1 Save The Music Foundation and Comcast to ensure that all students in the Columbia Heights Public Schools receive music education as part of their core curriculum. The Foundation has been making these donations since 2009 and looks forward to continuing their work in the area.

WHAT:
On October 25th, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation and the Arizona Community Foundation are hosting an event celebrating the completion of instrumental music education grants at Liberty Elementary School District and the beginning of the Foundation’s giving at Buckeye Elementary School District in Phoenix. Making this year’s grants possible, the Foundation has received $30,000 from the A. Wallace Denny Fund for Music Education at the Arizona Community Foundation, enough to restore one complete instrumental music education program. 
 
The VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music education programs in America’s public schools, and raising awareness about the importance of music as part of each child’s complete education. To date, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation has provided $48 million in new musical instruments to 1,800 public schools in more than 100 cities around the country, impacting the lives of over1.8 million children.
 
The Buckeye Elementary and Liberty School Districts cover a combined 497 square miles of Arizona’s West Valley, located just 30 minutes west of Phoenix.  Liberty’s borders fall in both Buckeye and Goodyear with Buckeye educating over 4,000 students and Liberty educating 3,600 students.  The districts have been committed to student success and achievement for over a century; Buckeye since 1889 and Liberty since 1908.  They have served their students, parents, and community endlessly, helping develop our next generation of leaders.

Local Musician, Javier Mendoza, Surprises School In Celebration of Donated Instruments, Participates in Master Class and Raises Awareness for Importance of Music Education

WHO: St. Louis-based musician, Javier Mendoza is joining forces with hometown company, Energizer and the VH1 Save The Music Foundation to provide a $30,000 “now that’s positivenergy™” grant in the form of much-needed instruments to St. Louis’ Central Middle School in the Riverview Gardens School District. St. Louis is one of eight communities across the country to receive a “now that’s positivenergy™” grant from Energizer and the VH1 Save The Music Foundation.

WHAT: Javier will make a surprise visit to Central Middle School along with Energizer, the iconic Energizer Bunny® and the VH1 Save The Music Foundation to celebrate the donation of instruments granted by Energizer and the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. THE VH1 SAVE THE MUSIC FOUNDATION PARTNERS WITH GROUPON’S G-TEAM TO HELP SPREAD AWARENESS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF MUSIC EDUCATION

NEW YORK, NY (October XX, 2011) - The VH1 Save The Music Foundation and G-Team, the philanthropic arm of Groupon, announce the launch of a digital campaign to help the Foundation’s mission of restoring instrumental music education in our nation’s public schools. The VH1 Save The Music Foundation has partnered with G-Team based on its ability to gather support for worthwhile causes and skill to produce tangible results for participating organizations.

The G-Team campaign with the VH1 Save The Music Foundation will be available on Groupon New York, Long Island, North Jersey, Fairfield County and Westchester County’s G-Team page beginning on Tuesday, October 11th and continuing through Thursday, October 13th. G-Team campaigns are live on Groupon for 72 hours, giving subscribers time to learn about the campaign and make appropriate contributions thereafter.
